November is the month of gratitude and thanksgiving. Even with Covid still creating havoc we all, if we take a moment to think about it, have plenty to be thankful for. Our Saviour, a family, a church, friends, freedom, health, a job, a source of income to just name a handful. Also, the political elections will be over (hopefully) in November. Lord knows we can all be thankful together for the 3rd of November. November will also close out the long Trinity Season and bring us to Advent. This November, each morning as you awaken, take the time to think of a different reason or something meaningful to give thanks to God for. 30 days of blessing. Following are 5 Sacred Scriptures of thanksgiving: “The trumpeters and musicians joined in unison to give praise and thanks to the LORD. Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals and other instruments, the singers raised their voices in praise to the LORD and sang: “He is good; his love endures forever.” Then the temple of the LORD was filled with the cloud,” ~ 2 Chronicles 5:13. “Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” ~ Ephesians 5:19-20. “I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.” ~ Psalm 9:1. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” ~ Philippians 4:6. “Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.” ~ Psalm 100:4. I pray that your November is full of praise and thanksgiving. ~ Father Tim

Is there someone in your life who does not give thanksgiving to God? Do they give thanks only to a worldliness that will fail them in the end? November is the month of giving thanks and gratitude for all our blessings from Almighty God, the creator of all things. It is a perfect time to speak with a lost soul about being grateful for life, invite them to attend Saint John’s with you, and humbly kneel giving thanks to the One who provides. ~ Father Tim

Bible Study & Spirituality Class
There will be no class in November as we will be preparing for our Annual Meeting on the 29th, but we will begin one again soon. So here is a suggestion for November. Advent begins on the 29th of November. Start looking for a book of daily readings for Advent. I have three on my shelf I have enjoyed over the past years. My favorite currently is Love Came Down, Anglican Readings for Advent and Christmas, by Christopher L. Webber. Behold, He Comes, Meditations on the Incarnation, by Benedict Groeshel, C.F.R. is also good. And you can’t go wrong with Advent with St. Francis, Daily Reflections, compiled by Diane M. Houdek. The study of God’s word is central to the life and mission of our parish church of St. John the Evangelist. The Holy Scriptures and continued exposure to God’s word will change your life. ~ Father Tim
